Human ageing has been a major concern and field of study where many companies were and are currently working on, to design a product that would reverse the process of human ageing, and would extend the life of humans. One such company that is working day and night to make this possible is Altos Labs which is an American bio-tech research company that aims to develop life extension therapy that can reverse the process of human ageing. Specialised cell therapies that are based on induced pluripotent stem cells will soon be developed.
Altos is a community of clinicians, scientists, and leaders from industry and academia, and is based in San Francisco Bay Area, Cambridge, San Diego, UK, and with significant collaborations in Japan as well. Altos Labs had also raised 3 billion dollars in a funding round in January 2022, and one of the investors is the Founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, and many other billionaires.
The idea for Altos Labs had originated from an entrepreneur and cell biologist, Richard Klausner, who had also co-founded this company with Hans Bishop and a Russian billionaire Yuri Milner. In October of 2020, Yuri Milner had hosted a meeting where experts had presented their research, and the main idea of Altos Labs was developed. Milner had also shown interest in anti-ageing technologies, and the company had recruited scientists like Juan Carlos Izpisua Belmote, Shinya Yamanaka and Steve Horvath. The board of directors includes well known scientists like Doudna, Jennifer A, Frances Arnold and David Baltimore.
Altos Labs, during the process, pays scientists upto 10 times more than at other research institutions. And in 2021, Altos Labs was registered in United Kingdom and in the United States.
