How to Grow Broccoli at Home

Broccolis are delicious, tasty and are highly nutritious, and are enjoyed by people in the winter season in many dishes like Baked Broccoli, Broccoli and Cheddar Crepes, Broccoli Soup, Broccoli Pasta, Broccoli Salad, Broccoli Paratha and many other delicious delights. Broccolis are mostly grown in China and India, followed by United States, Spain, Mexico, Italy and Poland. They are planted between September to November, and are harvested in the early summers. Furthermore, Broccolis are full of vitamins and minerals like  Vitamin K, Vitamin A, Selenium, Folate (Vitamin B9), Potassium, Phosphorous, and many other nutrients. What’s more, Broccolis are a great source of vitamin C, and even consuming a cup of it can provide you with almost 85% of the daily recommended intake. Broccolis also contain high amounts of glucoraphanin, which gets converted into an antioxidant called sulforaphane at the time of digestion, that may help in reducing blood sugar levels, cholesterol levels and prevents chronic disease development.

And here in this blog, I will be presenting you the art growing broccoli at home. So take a bowl of broccoli salad, and get ready to dive into an ocean of information about broccolis.



PART 1 Growing Broccolis
1. Take a large 2-3 feet wide and at least 1 feet tall pot, and put 50% Garden Soil, 30% Vermicompost and 20% Cocopeat, and make sure the pH level is between 6-7.

2. Flatten the top of the soil, and make two small holes at 1-2 feet gap, and put a single broccoli seed in it.

3. Put the pot in a sunny location, and water it regularly and frequently.

4. After a few weeks, small seedling of it will start growing. Remove if any weed is growing near it, and fertilise it every month using nitrogen rich fertiliser like Vermicompost or NPK.



PART 2 Harvesting Broccolis
1. Transplant the plant individually to a much bigger pot if needed.

2. After 2-3 weeks, the head of it will start growing and maturing.

3. Done! Now you can harvest and enjoy the home grown broccolis.
