How to Grow Carrots at Home

Carrots are delicious, tasty and highly nutritious, and are enjoyed by people in the winter season in many sweets and dishes like Gajar Ka Halwa, Carrot Pickle, Carrot Onion Soup, Carrot Cake, Cheesy Corn and Carrot Sandwich, Carrot Juice, American Chopsuey, Carrot rice and many more delicious delights. Carrots are primarily cultivated Northwestern Europe and China, and are grown in the winter season from October to November. They are full of Fibre, Beta Carotene, Vitamin K1, Potassium and many antioxidants, and are found in many colours like white, yellow, white, red, purple and orange. And a single carrot contains roughly 90% water and the rest 10% is made of carbs.

Here in this blog, I will be presenting you the art of growing carrots at home. So take a bowl of popcorn, and get ready to dive into an ocean of information about carrots.



PART 1 Planting the Seeds
1. Take a 1-1.5 feet wide and 1-2 feet tall pot, and mix 50% Garden Soil, 30% Vermicompost and 20% Cocopeat. And make sure that the pH level is around 6.5.

2. After making the potting mix dig a few 1-1.5 cm holes at 2-3 inch gap, and put a few Carrot seeds in it and then cover it with the same potting mix.

3. Water the seeds thoroughly and regularly, and give water to it whenever the soil feels dry.

4. Remove any weed or unwanted plants growing near the carrots.

5. Remove the extra carrots that might be competing with the healthy carrots for nutrition.



PART 2 Harvesting the Carrots
1. Fertilise it every month using Nitrogen rich fertiliser like Vermicompost, or a chemical fertiliser like NPK.

2. Done! You can harvest the carrots when they are around 1.5-2 cm wide.
