How to Make Sev Tamatar at Home

Sev Tamatar is an authentic and delicious, Gujarati food that is enjoyed by people along with a few roties. Sev are made by frying small pieces of gram flour, to add more taste, texture and a lot of flavour to this dish, and on the other hand, the tomato gravy acts like the base of this dish, and also adds a bunch of flavour and taste to it. Sev Tamatar, also known as Sev Tameta Nu Shaak, as we Gujaratis call it, is a sweet, tangy and spicy tomato curry with sev, and is a very quick and easy dish to make at home.

And here in this blog, I will be presenting you the recipe of making Sev Tamatar at home. So take a bowl of popcorn, and get ready to dive into an ocean of information about the recipe of Sev Tamatar.


RECIPE
1. Rinse and chop ginger, green chillies and tomatoes, and heat oil in a pan, and add mustard seeds to it and let them crackle a bit.

2. Add cumin seeds to it and saute them for a few seconds.

3. Then, add chopped ginger, asafoetida and green chillies to it, and stir and saute for 10-15 seconds till the smell of ginger goes away.

4. Add the chopped tomatoes and stir it, and then add red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and turmeric powder.

5. Stir and saute it well for about a minute, and then add sugar and salt.

6. Stir it till the tomatoes gets cooked evenly, and saute it till it gets soften.

7. Then, add water to it, and stir it very well.

8. Bring the curry to a simmer, and add salt if required.

9. Done! Now you can serve it hot along with roties, theplas, or with hot and tasty bajra roties.
