How to Grow Cauliflower at Home

Cauliflowers are delicious, tasty and highly nutritious, and are enjoyed by people during the winter season in variety of dishes like soups, cauliflower tots, mashed cauliflower, roasted cauliflower, cauliflower rice, aloo gobi, cauliflower parmesan, loaded cauliflower breakfast bake and many more delicious delights. Cauliflowers are primarily grown in India, China, Mexico, Spain, followed by Italy, France, United States and Poland. Cauliflowers are very low in calories, but are full of vitamins and minerals like Vitamin C, Vitamin B6, Vitamin K, Potassium, Folate, Pantothenic Acid, Phosphorous, Magnesium and Manganese. They are also high in fibre, which is an important nutrient for the body that feeds the bacteria present in your gut that reduces inflammation and also promotes a healthy digestion.

And here in this blog, I will be presenting you the art of growing cauliflowers at home. So take a bowl of popcorn, and get ready to dive into an ocean of information about cauliflowers.



PART 1 Planting the Seeds
1. Take a 1.5-2 feet wide and 1 feet tall pot and put 50% Garden Soil, 30% Vermicompost and 20% Cocopeat.

2. Make an inch hole in the soil and put a single seed in it, and cover the hole with the same potting mix.

3. Water the seeds regularly and frequently, and put the pot in full sun light.

4. Transplant the seedling to a bigger pot if needed.



PART 2 Harvesting the Cauliflower
1. Protect the plant from pests by spraying an organic pesticide/insecticide like Neem Oil.

2. Fertilise the plant using nitrogen rich fertiliser like NPK or Vermicompost.

3. Done! Harvest the cauliflower when they become white, large and firm.
